When originally wanting to start introducing my art for my shop, I wanted something simple, cute and fun that could relate to many people and at the same time express my interest for Japanese culture along with my own personality.
Well, what better way to relate to people than with food? From simple illustrations of a dumpling and a bowl of noodles in 2005, my shop adventures have expanded to different food items, animals and all things cute.
Despite being in a work field that revolves around technology, I've always gone back to my trusty pencil and paper as a starting point for my art. When starting traditionally, I feel it adds more character to what I do than just simply relying on AI and the growing advances of technology to shortcut what I believe is essential for artists to truly express in their work. All the patterns, characters and products I display in my shop are drawn by hand and re-drawn by hand digitally.
I hope to convey to those who buy my products how special it is to buy something not just spit out using a computer but something that has character and has had a lot intentionality, effort and love put into it.
